Viaduct

The Old or Fernando Hué viaduct in Teruel was designed and built in 1929 by the engineer Fernando Hué to facilitate the urban expansion of Teruel towards the south, where the Ensanche is currently located, and its communication with the lands of Valencia.

Its large central reinforced concrete arch (which was the Spanish record span at the time) and the general aesthetics of a bridge that was very close at the time and is now fully integrated into the city.

Amantes Ensemble

The complex includes the Mausoleum of the Lovers, as well as the Church of San Pedro, built in the 14th century, with a single nave with a polygonal apse and side chapels with a simple ribbed vault roof. The Ándito, which surrounds the nave and the apse, opens to the outside through arcades.

The Cloister, built in the 14th century, belongs to the group of the four Mudejar cloisters that are still preserved in Aragon. It is the resting place of the bodies of the Lovers of Teruel. The Tower of San Pedro (13th century) is the oldest of the Mudejar towers in Teruel. The remains of the Lovers have always remained in the Church of San Pedro.

Plaza del Torico Square

Plaza del Torico is one of the most emblematic places in Teruel. It is the heart of the city and is famous for its central monument, El Torico. The square is a vibrant and lively space, where people gather to enjoy a sunny day or to attend a cultural event.

During the day, tourists can admire the impressive architecture of the surrounding buildings, while at night, the square is illuminated and becomes an ideal place for an evening stroll. The Plaza del Torico is an important landmark for visitors to the city, who can find a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants here.

Staircase of the Óvalo

The Teruel staircase is a monumental construction, the work of the Teruel engineer José Torán de la Rad. The emblematic building was constructed at the beginning of the 1920s to bridge the difference in level between the "Estación del Ferrocarril Central de Aragón" and the old part of the city.

Typical Mudejar elements stand out, such as terracotta bricks and carved stone, as well as the coloured ceramic decorations in the neo-Mudejar style, culminating in the stylised towers at the top. Nor is there any lack of allusions to the city's modernism, visible "in the delicate wrought-iron designs of the lampposts that line the route". The Staircase is an exaltation of the city and its history, clearly evident in the high relief of The Lovers of Teruel and in the coats of arms of the towns.

Walls of Teruel

An ancient fortification that surrounds the old quarter of the city of Teruel. Built in the 13th century, the wall is an impressive testimony to the history and military architecture of the period. The Muralla is made up of numerous fortified towers and gates, and is one of the most emblematic places in Teruel. Over the years, the Muralla has undergone numerous restorations and renovations, and today it is a popular place for tourists and local inhabitants alike.

The Walls of Teruel are included in the list of castles considered Sites of Cultural Interest by virtue of the provisions of the second additional provision of the Aragonese Cultural Heritage.

Tower Salvador

This is the latest tower in the Mudéjar style in Teruel. It is traditionally considered to be contemporary with or slightly later than the Tower of San Martín, and so it develops and includes the most characteristic elements of the Teruel Mudejar style.

From the top of the tower, visitors can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. The Torre del Salvador is an ideal place to learn about the history of Teruel and to appreciate the architecture and fortification of medieval times.

Tower of San Martín

The tower of San Martín de Teruel is an Aragonese Mudejar building in Spain, listed as a World Heritage Site in 1986. It was erected in 1316 and renovated in the 16th century, when a stone base was added.

It is located in the Plaza de Pérez Prado, in front of Calle de los Amantes.

It is located in the Plaza de Pérez Prado, opposite the Calle de los Amantes. Like other towers in the capital of Teruel, it is a brick tower-door with glazed ceramic ornaments under which the Andaquilla slope passes. The base of the tower can be accessed through a pointed vault. Three of its sides are visible in the first section, as the fourth is attached to the Baroque church of San Martín.

Dinópolis Teruel
